Clean Slate

Yo! Hello people who happen to read my blog! What's up.? Okay let me get to the point of writing this blog before my questions bore you to death. I've decided a few things. Since I really couldn't keep up with this blog by posting everyday. I've decided to make a clean slate. As you will have notice, my blog now has buttons…don't press the red one(its always a bad choice) Anyway, I will now post about different shit in different categories. For example…if you like when I ramble on about random things that would be under "The Rants" button. If you like when I share my poetry or short stories that would be under "The Writing" and sometimes what I write about may or may not fit in any category around here at all. So that goes in "The other stuff"

Okay second thing is I really want to mainly use this blog as a "professional" one or perhaps leaning towards an author one. So my main posts will go into the "The Writing" category. While I won't ignore the other categories, I plan on mostly doing different bits of writing. Since it is what I know best. so most of what I write will be aiming towards something that somebody other than my friends would read. 

I am guessing you are sighing right about now. Why is this blog post so long why is he ranting about ranting? Honestly, I just want to connect with other writers, so far my readership is only my friends which I am grateful for. But all good things must change…okay so maybe that's not the quote and my blog before was less than good…BUT that's why i am doing the change. 

Why am I telling you this? I don't know…I guess today I am sorta using the blog as a journal. I just felt like writing a blog... whatever, I just hope that maybe this clean slate will help add a new flavor to my blogging as a whole. Yeah so I think I might have run out of things to say in this random rant about nothing but me re-doing a blog.

It's been a while....

Since I have written a blog. So I thought I'd take a moment to write a entry. I figured that I should at least take another month where I start writing and then forget to blog again. But honestly, life gets the best of me and its hard to write a blog full time. I just need to realize that it needs to become a habit or like my fellow blogger Sopphey Vance, i need to find some sort of schedule to write.

Anyway, the good thing is that the novel that I am writing is going really well. There are lots and lots of pages happening. It feels really good. Everyday that I am writing feels like I have sex....its that same exact feeling...yeah i know.

Web Series- maybe kinda

So lately I have not been able to write much because of school. But on the plus side, I have had time to learn and hang out with my classmates. They are really fantastic people, I love them all like family and that's essentially what they feel like to me. So that brings me to the point of this blog. Because I have such a great family of film makers, we really wanted to do projects over the summer. One of the projects that we will be doing is a web series I have come up with. A friend of mine is going to be the co-creator/producer. Together, we wrote a few episode outlines and came out with a great concept. Hopefully, this summer the web series will all come together nicely, in fact lets be realistic this summer SOMETHING will get done if not this web series then something else. I know my classmates wanted to shoot and write so that's what we'll do.

On another note I have been watching web series to keep me inspired. I have come across a few that are really amazing and that are done really well. I only hope to aspire to be in their same league. One of these that I should mention is a web series called About Abby. I think the writing of this show is fantastic. The dialogue is witty and realistic and is close to being like the TV show Girls.  Sassy Mohen is a fantastic writer and director.

I realized after doing a bit of research that this show is on a higher budget than ours. But still I hope we get to where they got.  Below is the first episode of About Abby.

Great Gatsby is meh

I decided that I wanted to believe in Hollywood so I went and saw The Great Gatsby. While I didn't think this movie was horrible. I was not too happy with it. I was not expecting to be gold either since I am not a fan of the book. The acting in the movie was pretty good. I liked Leo as Gatsby. But I think casting Toby as Nick was a slight mistake, he didn't quite have the old school quality that should be expected out of somebody like Nick. The actress who played Daisy was good. She was believable.  This brings me to another thought about the director Boz(why am i naming them on first name basis like i know them....because I can :P) Anyhow, I did think he was a great man for the job. But I felt like the authenticity of the era was lost when I heard Jay-Z rapping during a party where flappers and Martinis are about. Perhaps, the modern music was a good change for artistic purposes and I respect that. It's not that I felt the directing was bad because I felt like he did a good job with the lavish colors and the clothing was authentic. It's just I felt something was just bringing me out of the moment. As far as story is concerned I felt like something was just lacking. However,  I did not like the book so I understand that they were following the book pretty closely. So overall Great Gatsby was not a horrible movie but it wasn't anything deserving any rewards.

Evil Dead is sucks

Alright so I haven't blogged in a hell of a long time. I feel like every time I am on a roll with blogging I take a long ass break and then go on another blog block. I guess I usually don't have much to talk about. But now I feel the need to talk about something so here it goes.

Yesterday, I went to go see the Evil Dead with a very good friend of mine. Everybody had been talking about it so we decided that it was about time we saw it too. I don't know why but I was expecting something fun and cerebral, seeing as its a classic cult film loved by tons of people. Instead what we got was a stupid mindless gorefest. I can appreciate  this film for entertaining reasons, however I got nothing out of this movie.

 Absolutely felt nothing for the characters. I didn't care that some of these characters died or that some of them were drug addicts. I frankly wouldn't want to be the characters friends. The only thing I learned is that duct tape can fix bloody messes and severed body parts.

When I go see a movie I like to be moved, I like to discuss the possibilities of characters and stories but there was nothing to discuss. Nothing emotional from the story or the characters to make me thing. Perhaps this is what they had in mind.

 I don't know what the 80s version of Evil Dead but this revamped version was absolutely awful. If you enjoy mindless horror movies then I think you might enjoy it but if you like horror with twisted stories rather than simply gore and blood than this movie is not for you.
