Ethan Coen A Poet?

Perplexed, astonished, bewildered. These words probably described the look on my face when I found this:

on the Barnes and Noble poetry shelf. Why? You ask. Well it's because Ethan Coen of the infamous Coen Brothers, the writer/director of such movies as The Big Lewboski, Barton Fink, O Brother Where Art Thou etc. has a NEW book of poetry out called The Day the World Ends. Apparently, he has been writing poetry for a long while. His previous and first book of poetry is entitled  The Drunken Driver Has the Right of Way. This title makes me love him even more. I am proud to be both a poet and a screenwriter just like this mighty cinematic wordsmith.  Though to be honest I was not impressed by all of his poetry, just the fact that he writes makes me giddy as a school girl,

As you all know I have mentioned that the Coen Brothers have been a major influence in my screenwriting. Honestly, I don't think I would have perused it if I had not read the Barton Fink screenplay or seen the Big Lewboski.  They made me see how beautiful of a language it was.  This amazing find has inspired me even more to pursue both poetry and screenwriting.

Mr. Coen if you do happen to read this I want to say that you are now more than ever a major inspiration for me.(not forgetting your brother though because he awesome too) Mr. Coen keep on keeping on with your poetry, short stories and screenplays with your brother.
