Haters

finished by Sopphey

I strongly dislike the haters that live in this world. Bigots, Racist, chauvinistic folks. It seems there are a lot of them. Unfourtunetly that's the way of this world. You win some, you lose some. You have some happy people, and you have some really miserable people. You have good days, and you have some days where you can't even function long enough to open the pain meds bottle because your headache hurts that bad.

We just have to learn to accept that. Or, we just have to kick the people who aren't good for us out of our lives. Enact change so that we don't wind up miserable on the wrong side of the bed. Nobody likes waking up on the wrong side. At least I don't.

Today, write a poem about the right side or the wrong side. It can be a literal poem about the "side of the road," or a very metaphorical poem.

Here's my attempt:

The Wasp

Stared down at the buds of joy
Promising wealth of life
The sweet sounds of eternal opportunities
Swirling along the sun

Marlved at the crisp scent
Emanating from the soft leftovers
Of a summer picnic
The cherry pie filling caught his eye

Flew onto the closest branch
Weary of the man and his date
Who could kill him
Without remorse or regret

Inched closer to the sugary heaven
Awaiting his young and fragile life
A large shadow clouded his vision
As the man’s shirt crushed him
