So my final thought is Bring Poetry Back.
Poetry V. The World
Okay so it has been argued by a friend of mine that poetry is not a dead art. Perhaps he is right but to me something that doesn't get the respect it deserves is dead in the eyes of the public. We live in a society where most people can not name a famous modern poet. You know why? Because poetry books are not on the shelf of our local Barnes and Noble. They have the poets of Old but you know as much as I respect those guys. I think its time that the new generation gets recognized too. Is it too much to ask for the poetry shelf to be bigger with a wider array of poets for us to read? Maybe have more poetry readings at Barnes and Nobles for new books of poetry that are coming out. I am sure that most people don't even know that the poetry section exists. I think its time for voices to be heard. We need places where there are rows and rows of our fellow poetry books. We need to know who else is out there. We poets are not in small numbers but we are not able to get our words out there because nobody gives poetry a chance anymore. So as crazy as this sounds this poetry revolution needs to get going in more than one city, in more than one country in more than one continent. I don't know about you guys but I am sick of being second to none next to novelist who get on that New York Times Bestsellers.
